Brothers Kellan and Davin Bartosch took a college homebrewing hobby into 10+ Years of education and professional experience before opening WISEACRE Brewing in 2013. Now Tennessee’s largest craft brewery and a nationally recognized brand, the company has grown to produce nearly 35,000 barrels annually and distribute in 22 states. Their 2024 acquisition of Bearded Iris Brewing united the state’s top independent breweries. Deeply rooted in Memphis, the brothers regularly support local nonprofits and community events, embodying entrepreneurial vision and civic commitment.
We make beer and other beverages as well as operating two taprooms with integrated restaurants.
2012
12 years into our business, I am struck way more by the difference in community and relationships than the actual business itself. Topping that list would be our staff and company culture which I am so proud to be a part of. We have jobs that people are proud of! Externally, people have met their spouses by way of WISEACRE or have a tattoo of our logo. We are a business, but we get to be a part of peoples lives and a part of Memphis in a way that I had not anticipated. I know that what we produce provides value or we wouldn’t exist, but it’s more of the connection and culture and purpose that we get to be a part of for individuals, groups, and our city that makes me realize how important entrepreneurship is. I know that in any of the examples listed that people would find value elsewhere, but entrepreneurship provides a new way that would not have existed otherwise.
