John McQuiston is a founding member of The Society of Entrepreneurs, and he exemplifies the spirit of entrepreneurial leadership in many different ways. He is semi-retired and senior counsel with Evans and Petree, a prominent Memphis law firm. John created the legal foundation for The Seam, an internet platform for trading cotton and other commodities. Since its founding in 1999, The Seam has traded billions of dollars worth of commodities. John also created the legal foundation for EWR, Inc. a related company, which transfers electronic warehouse receipts representing 99% of the U.S. cotton crop. For over 25 years he was continuouslylisted in the “Best Lawyers in America” publication.
John McQuiston has also learned how to take himself away from the rigor of his law practice from time to time. He has written an inspirational book on the subject of the Benedictine Rule, Always We Begin Again, which was a religious bestseller.
John McQuiston is a former director of the Memphis Bar Association and former Chairman of the Tennessee Bar section on Business Torts. He is also a former Chairman of the Board at St. Mary’s Episcopal School.
