In today’s world, entrepreneurship may seem overwhelming for many. However, I have always felt that if you have the passion to dream it – you can do it, no matter your background. I grew up in a working-class farming community in rural Arkansas and dreamt of owning my own business. Entrepreneurship wasn’t a familiar term. By the time I was eighteen, I had founded and owned two businesses and excelled in them. I knew then, launching a business in architecture would be my path. It began in those early days the moment I named my future practice, archimania, while sitting in 4th year design studio in college.
For me, entrepreneurship is finding a professional path your passionate about – one you can build your business around while achieving the goals you set out to achieve. Through the built environment we create, a city can be seen as more progressive, forward-thinking, and dynamic – making it a place where people want to come to work, live, start businesses, and raise families. An entrepreneur, working as an architect, can make a community better and leave it better than they found it. Entrepreneurship allows you to dream and then create.
